Aurore made her first coiled basket with Jeanette Nowak in Shetland in 2015, first willow basket in March 2020 with Karen Collins and she has been addicted to weaving ever since. After learning the basics of round willow work thanks to Hanna Van Aelst’s online course, she honed her craft with John Cowan in Lanark and continues to develop her skills with traditional basketmakers.

Now, basketry is Aurore’s main living and much of the wllow is grown here on the croft. Besides working with willow and willow bark, Aurore also enjoys collecting natural fibres and make wee baskets and cordage out of them. There is a lot to play with just a stone’s throw from the house!

Baskets can be bought direct from the croft, at local markets, nearby Cereal Bakery in Tongue and Havorn gallery in Ullapool. Some smaller items are available on our website shop. If you’d lke to request a basket or commission please get in touch.

Aurore also offers basketry workshops & tuition – find out more here.
