Description
Solid wood plant labels made from reclaimed Scottish whisky barrel oak. The whisky barrels these are made from have been used several times for ageing whisky, and then are retired from use. You can still smell the booze in the wood sometimes! Some of the labels have a charred thin edge on them from the charring process used in making the barrels. The ultimate in recycling I think!
Oak is naturally durable outside and so these will last many years. Without treatment they will eventually fade to a silvery colour.
You can write on these with anything really, but we have found that a soft pencil is best, such as a carpenters pencil, or graphite stick. At the end of each season simply sand them down and use again next year. For permanent marking we use a “garden marker” made by Staedtler. Sharpie markers that are not UV resistant will fade after a while.
They are 15cm by 2cm (6″ x 3/4″) and 4mm thick and in packs of 25. (Note that there are 2 sizes in the photos, but we currently only sell the 15cm versions)
These are made to order so please allow a week for delivery.
Note that the labels will be loosely packaged in recycled and recyclable card packaging. They have a label on top of the box so can be given as a gift, although the postage label and address will be on the bottom of the box so bear this in mind. Orders for multiple sizes will be packed together. If you’d prefer separate packaging (for gifts) please state in the order notes.
